5 Stars One of the Best pick up and play Wii Games
Great updated version of the GameCube Hit Super Smash Bros. I like that this game works with either the Wii Remote, the Classic Controller or with a GameCube controller. That flexibility helps cut down on accessory costs if you already have GameCube controllers around since this game really shines when all 4 players are playing. Sure it’s fun to battle the computer but the real thrill is in getting your rear repeatedly kicked by your 7 year old, which will happen. We have dozens of Wii Games but my son just switches back and forth between Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Godzilla Unleashed. Those are his favorite games by far, so get this one.
5 Stars Stop Whining
Everyone who gave this game a bad review really needs to stop whining. Nintendo is NOT done. And NEVER will be. Nintendo has had the highest sales for the Wii and DS and far surpasses Sony and Microsoft. As for violent? Please. Have you ever heard of Grand Theft Auto? Now as a die-hard Nintendo fanatic, let me just say this: Nintendo was here long before the other gaming companies and they will be here long after their gone.
You people just have no sense of fun when it comes to kicking the crap out of your friends.
5 Stars A must-have
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one of those games that every Nintendo owner should have. It’s a classic. I’ll admit that I may have a biased opinion about this game since I am such a big fan of Melee and the N64 versions. Yet, I think a lot of people are the same way.
The controls may be difficult to get used to at first, but if it’s that big of a deal just use a Wii classic controler. The new characters are great. I love the fact that they added Pit from Kid Icarus, and Meta Knight and King Dedede from the Kirby games. There are more characters in this version than there was in Melee, which is also a plus. The music in this game is a step up from the others as well.
My friends and I play this game for hours. It’s great for multiplayer, as always. The solo mode takes hours to complete, but after a while it may get a bit boring. It is a good way to unlock new characters though (i.e. Gannondorf). I wish the plot were better for this part of the game.
If you are a parent wondering if this is an appropriate game for your child, don’t worry. My six year old cousin loves this game, and he is afraid of getting his face painted. The animated violence is nothing. It’s nothing worse than what they have probably seen in cartoons on television.
5 Stars Got a Wii? Don’t have this? Well, GET IT!!!
The Nintendo Gamecube was passed over in the gaming world, but everyone knows “Super Smash Bros. Melee”. The best seller for the system, and one the best games ever made. We heard of a sequel a coming for the Revoloution (that’s what the Wii was called back then) and we were phsyced because it was going to be a launch title… and it didn’t come, and was postponed for about a year and a half. As if it didn’t have a enough to live up to, now we have to see if what was worth the extra long wait. Here is my take.
Plot – 5.8
I know what you’re thinking. “Super Smash Bros. games don’t have plots.” Well this one has the Subspace Emissary mode, which (seemingly) has a plot. I’m winging it here, but I believe it’s just an excuse for fighting. Which is fine. But with no dialouge, spoken or written, it makes it a tad hard to follow. What are Bowser and Ganondorf working together? Why are they helping the heroes? Where did Sonic come from? In the end it dosen’t matter, good guys win, bad guys lose.
Gameplay – 9.4
As I just mentioned, there’s the Subspace Emissary mode, in addtion to classics like Classic mode, multi man brawl, break the targets, and of course, good ol’ mutiplayer. The Subspace Emissary mode is fun… for the first half. The second half it begins to get repititive, walk, walk, walk, fight, fight, fight, BOSS, walk, walk, walk, fight, fight, fight, BOSS, repeat. But at first it’s fun enough, and you’ll have to do it to get all the characters. Classic mode is the same from the other game, but let me get down to the thing we all know we got ir for. I’m a man of few words, so let me just say “MULTIPLAYER!” This is a fighting game. You know, Brawl. And there are plenty of characters to choose from, and plenty of arenas to play on. And this what the game is about so it takes up 90 percent of my scoring. If you’re a Nintendo fan, you’ll fall in love with this, and with newbies who aren’t Nintendo characters, Sonic and Snake, are great additions.
Presentation – 10.0
Melee looked great on the purple lunchbox, and this goes to new heights. Textures of clothing, fur shading, secular highlights, and the music. This is the best music for a Nintendo game… because it’s all the music for a Nintendo game. And you can play the music as much as you want. From Animal Crossing to Wario Ware, you’re music selection is massive. Many say the Wii is last in the graphics race. And that’s mostly true, but with this, and the even better looking “Super Mario Galaxy”, it’s catching up.
Final Score – 9.5
Or a 5 out of 5. Excellent graphics, music, and most of all, gameplay, this is a must for the Wii. One of the best games I’v played period.
