2 Stars Update Is A Downgrade
I purchased TWG ‘09 expecting improvements over TWG ‘08. What a disappointment. Putting, in particular, has lost its feel. Even after giving this a fair chance, I’m more convinced than ever that they got it right with version ‘08. ‘09 doesn’t cut-it. I’m going back.
3 Stars A Step Backwards In Almost Every Way
Playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 for Wii is a heartbreak if you were a fan of the 08 version. While the graphics generally have improved, and there are more elements included (golfers, equipment, courses, etc.), the putting revamp has completely destroyed the game for me.
EA has inserted a completely non-intuitive aiming indicator for putting. If you place the indicator on the hole, or use the default position, you have to take a ridiculous-looking 100% backswing to make the putt. This means if the cup is six inches away, you’re still swinging for the rafters. This is a total undoing of the putting feel you develop playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08.
Of course, if you want to regain the 08 style putting feel, you can always move the indicator. Behind the cup. 10 to 20 feet. Off the green. But how much sense does that make?

4 Stars Fun, but aggravating — just like golf!
I bought this game for my husband (who is a very good golfer) and me (and I’m a terrible golfer). The only downside to this game, other than the annoying commentaries (especially by Kelly) is the putting — it’s really bad! And it gets quite frustrating when a 2-putt turns into a 5-putt because the remote didn’t see the stroke. We found the key to putting is to do it very slowly. Once you get the hang of this programming flub, the game is quite enjoyable. Take the time to create “yourself” and tune your clubs.
5 Stars Worth every penny
Bought this for the new Wii…I haven’t owned a game console since my PS2 10 years ago, so the graphics seemed awesome to me. Pretty awesome to be able to play so many actual courses. Me and some friends have even enjoyed playing 4 person golf on friday nights in lieu of poker night. Let’s all 4 people play in a variety of ways. I am highly impressed and would recommend this game to anyone. Of the 6 or so Wii games we own (Wii Fit, NCAA Football, MAdden 09, Mario GAlaxy, Guitar Hero, Wii Sports), this is my favorite.

I have been playing this game every night. The people who complain about the putting have an IQ of 10. It is so easy to get use to the putting. Just like the other Tiger Woods games, you move the directional pad up and down to account for uphill or downhill putts. It gives you a percentage to hit the putt. When putting uphill, add a couple more percentage points and when putting downhill subtract a couple of percentage points. Of course it depends on how steep the grade is up or down. You take a slow back swing and stop when you’ve reached the percentage you desire and start your forward swing. It’s that simple!! It took me literally five minutes to figure it out. I played in my first tourney shot a 60 in the second round and won the tourney. It is an AWESOME GAME. GET A CLUE PUTTER NUTTERS!!!!
