Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip for Nintendo Wii introduces a whole new way of playing snowboarding games. Developed by Ubisoft, Shaun White Snowboarding was developed from the ground up to take advantage of the Wii Balance Board, giving you an experience that is more intuitive, realistic, and fun.

You can ride on mountains all over the world, including in Japan. View larger.

Hop Onto the Wii Balance Board for a Realistic Experience
The Wii Balance Board is an accessory from Nintendo that works and is shaped like an elongated scale, with sensors that can tell how much and where pressure is applied when you stand on it. This works perfectly with Shaun White Snowboarding, as it can detect whether you are leaning forward, back, left, or right, and it reacts like a real snowboard would.

The Wii Balance Board gives you an unprecedented, realistic experience. View larger.

To jump, you quickly shift your weight to the balls of your feet, and while in the air, you tap the A or B buttons and lean left and right to grab the board and spin, respectively. A multitude of tricks are available for you to learn, and chaining them together lets you amass more points. As you do tricks, a small little icon shows up on the screen to let you know what you did. For example, if you do a 720-degree turn called a “melon,” a little watermelon slice will show up on screen.

If you would rather forego the Balance Board, you can play with just the Wii Remote as well.

Beautiful Graphics with Unique Camera System
Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip features a unique camera system, where you can choose different cameramen and camerawomen to follow you around. Some are better for tricks and others for speed, so be sure to pick the right one, as they’ll give you abilities during your ride.

As the cameraperson follows you on your ride, you’ll notice different effects, such as image blurs around the edges of the screen to give a sense of speed. The camera will collect snow when you fall, and sometimes the camera will white out after completing a big jump, as the cameraperson has to follow you and do the same moves as well. This unique system adds another element of strategy and fun to the game.

Tour the World with Shaun White
Road Trip begins with you as a newcomer to the snowboarding scene. Shaun White serves as your mentor, and together you travel the world, tackling mountains and making friends as you work your way up to becoming the world’s best snowboarder.

As you win competitions and meet new people, they’ll show you new tricks and special abilities that will help you against the competition. You’ll have to learn different snowboarding skills as you compete in races down a mountain, half-pipe events, slaloms, rail jams, and more. You can also take a breather and just free ride in the back country at your own pace.

Play With or Against Your Friends
Road Trip doesn’t have online multiplayer options, but you can play both competitively and cooperatively with a friend on a split screen. In competitive mode, you and a friend can race to the bottom or try to out-trick each other for the highest score. In cooperative mode, both of you ride down the same slope, and the scores are added together. The entire game can be played cooperatively, so you and a friend can tour the world together and unlock new extras.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars SO FUN!!
I just got this game about one week ago and I LOVE IT! I love using the balance board. By the time I am done I am sweating and didn’t even realize that I had gotten a work out. Good game.

5 Stars Great game
This is a great game with the Wii balance board. I’ve played it for hours and it’s fun every time. You will be sore after the first few times you play it because you are using muscles you don’t normally use.

2 Stars do yourself a favor and just play SSX 3 again
SSX Tricky, SSX 3, SSX On Tour. any of those are better and cheaper.

its obvious that this game was just slapped together. within minutes of getting on the board you can see that. the controls are clumsy at best, a trick list this small is a total joke in this day and age. the animations are stiff, and the graphics are generally bland and sloppy.

SSX Tricky was worlds better than this, and it came out something like 9 years ago. not to mention SSX3, still the best snowboarding game available in my opinion. the controls and general gameplay were much better done in the SSX series, and since the last actual SSX(the wii remake doesnt count) was like 5 years ago , there is seriously no excuse for performance this horrible.

the only redeeming qualities of this game are a decent soundtrack and the fact that some decent motion control sets this just slightly above its next gen counterparts which are a total joke.

do yourself a favor and rent before buying, better yet, just avoid it all together. this game was thrown together with very little care or attention.

If you have wii fit board – don’t miss this game.

Background music and anomation is awesome. You will feel like yourself snow boarding in the mountains.

I also like my wii sports – both are great games I think every wii player should not miss.

5 Stars A WII game that actually makes you sweat
After playing the WII Fit and the WII Sport, I was looking for something that was a little more active. This is a really cool game – good graphics and fun music. I enjoy it — and actually play the balance board on either side to get an even work out.

5 Stars Great game
This is a great game with the Wii balance board. I’ve played it for hours and it’s fun every time. You will be sore after the first few times you play it because you are using muscles you don’t normally use.

5 Stars Another 5 star review
So much has been said already, this game with the balance board ushers in a new era in gaming, I want more!

5 Stars Wii Snowboarding Game
My kids are between 9 and 12 and they really have fun with this game. The graphics are very realistic.

Follow the Career of Metallica and Play as Your Own Upstart
Guitar Hero: Metallica is similar to Guitar Hero World Tour in that you play a full suite of instruments. When the game starts, you’re the new band on the block with aspirations of opening for Metallica. The game goes back and forth between performances by Metallica and performances of songs that influenced Metallica by your band. The band was motion captured so you’ll recognize their unique motions on screen and style of playing.

As you progress in the game, you’ll start to unlock bonus features such as videos of old Metallica performances, backstage photos, and “Metallifacts,” which enables different trivia to show up while a song is playing, similar to VH1’s Pop-Up Video.

Metallica Recordings from Original Masters and More Via Download
Guitar Hero: Metallica features 49 songs in total, 28 Metallica songs, and 21 songs that are favorites of the band and have influenced them. The Metallica songs are sourced from original masters so you’ll have the best audio quality available.

Game Difficulty Goes from One All The Way Up to Eleven
Metallica exhibit technical prowess while performing, and this game goes from Beginner all the way to Expert Plus difficulty. Hardcore gamers will not be disappointed. You’ll have to play guitars, drums, and sing, and in the “Expert Plus” difficulty, you’ll have to plug in a second bass pedal for double bass pedal drum work.

  Real-Life Venues
As you go on tour, you’ll be playing venues small and large, and you might recognize some that you’ve been to. Famous venues that played a part in Metallica’s career such as The Stone and the Hammersmith Odeon are included in the game and have been duplicated with great detail.

Grab Your Friends and Play Together
Multiplayer is part of what made Guitar Hero such a hit and it is no different here. Gather your friends and family, and jam Metallica tunes together. The game also features Metallica-specific power ups for competitive multiplayer. For example, “Fade to Black” will black out your opponent’s notes, and “Trapped Under Ice” will freeze their whammy bar.

  Create Your Own Music
Those familiar with Guitar Hero World Tour will welcome back the Music Studio, where you can create new music and then upload and share them through the GHTunes service. The Music Studio in Guitar Hero: Metallica gives you Metallica specific tones such as Hetfields’ ESP Truckster guitar, as well as Metallica drum sounds.
